About the Camera Class

This is a 3 hour 'classroom class' and not a 'go outside and shoot around' class.  I want you to bring your cameras so we can see the buttons and possible take some shots in the but for the most part, this is going to be a classroom setting...so notepads are key.  Make sure your batteries are charged and it would be nice if you have your manual with you (although it's really not necessary)  I'd also like it if you were familiar with where some buttons are on your camera.  I'll be familiar with each model coming to the class...you'll need to be as well.  It's just $85.00 plus tax...and below are the topics we'll be covering!

Classes will be held at the Community Hall in Waverley - the old Waverley Church/museum ( 2463 Rocky Lake Drive)

Initial Setup of your Camera

I've seen tourists shooting at Peggy's Cove and their cameras were taking images they'd never be able to print.  And let's get rid of all those pesky annoyances  in the settings too!

Factors contributing to a great exposure

We're going to talk about all the things that affect exposure in your image and how to adjust them on your camera.  They include Aperture , Shutter Speed, ISO and we'll talk about which ones you'd want to change and which ones you wouldn't, depending on each situation.

All those little Buttons

We're going to go through each of them and demystify it all for you.   Although all cameras are different, all concepts are the same and most of the time, universal symbols are used across brands.

There is a Button I use ALL the time.

And the majority of the time, when I show it to people, they had no idea what it was for.  Literally, I use it a hundred times during a family shoot and it will make your images so much better.

All those things on my screen!!

What do they all mean?  Do I need to care about any of them?  Yeah, let's learn that stuff.

No! No! No! to Full Auto!

However - there is one Auto setting that would be OK to use...but I'm still going to teach you why you will want to start shooting in AP, TV or M.   "Trevor!  What does that mean?? " This class may be for you. ;)

Cookies and Questions

What are camera Cookies?   Nothing.  I'm going to bake homemade cookies and will have them here for you. Yum.   Also, feel free to stay after class and fire more questions at me.  I'm an open book.

(For those attending my class at hotels across the Maritimes, Jilly won't be baking you all her wonderful cookies - you'll just have to enjoy the muffins or cookies the hotels have to offer! )
